Segun Oni, an All Progressives Congress, (APC) gubernatorial aspirant and former Governor of Ekiti State, has urged indigenes of the State to use the Christmas period to rededicate themselves afresh to the service of the Almighty God and the obedience of His laws.
Oni, in a statement signed by his Media aide, Steve Alabi, in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, noted that, “Since Jesus Christ whose birth we are celebrating obeyed the commandments of God, it follows that Christians, too, must keep the commandments and teach others to do the same.”
Oni, who is also the Deputy National Chairman of APC, while assuring Nigerians that things will get better and will continue to get better congratulated Nigerians for witnessing a new lease of life in the country after the wasteful 16years of rule by the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
“I congratulate us that we are alive to see the turnarounds and I want to pray that God will continue to grant us to be alive so that we will see more of it. I want to say that next year, from all indices, will be a better year.
“But I want to beg our people, everybody that has nothing doing now should think what can I do to contribute to my own future. If you say a bag of rice would sell for N1,000, he who is not working will have to depend on somebody else to eat.
“We have seen people who turned around their own lives by taking up a challenge. My prayer is that whatever each and everyone of us puts our hands to, the Lord will prosper it.
“I want to use the occasion of this Christmas to urge all Ekiti sons and daughters both home and abroad to rededicate themselves afresh to the service of the Almighty and total obedience of His laws,” Oni said in his goodwill message to the people of the State and Nigeria.
He said; “Christians in particular should continue to be obedient to the commandments of God as done by our Lord Jesus Christ because He (Jesus) made it very clear that those who follow Him and aspire to His Kingdom have a perpetual obligation to obey and uphold God’s law.
“Therefore, our people, especially Christians should use this occasion of celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ to rededicate themselves to the continuous service of God and humanity as well as total obedience to the commandments of God Almighty.”
