As the mudslinging brouhaha on who becomes the Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is going on between the two major chieftains of the association in the person of popular Musiliu Akinsanya who is well known as MC Oluomo and his arch rival, Kunle Poly.
Over 12 excos and 120 branches we gathered allegedly declared theirs supports for MC Oluomo and this was contained in a press release issued by MC Oluomo’s faction which reads:
Words alone could not describe the level of excitement on the faces of Union members as over 120 branches and thousands of Nurtw member across the length and breath of Lagos State declared their support for MC OLUOMO as the best candidate for the post of the Union Chairman.
The state and branch excos, carrying the mandates of their respective branch members, made the declaration in an elaborate event on Monday, 26th August, 2019.
The excos declared that they did not just wake up and take the decision to declare their support, but that they were acting on the instructions of the people they represent in their respective branches.
They took their turn to eulogized the esteem leadership characters of Alhaji MC OLUOMO that made him stand out amongst his co-contestants. They talked about his humility, his philanthropic exploits and his people-oriented leadership traits. They all agreed that OLuomo is the kind of person Lagos State Chapter of the NURTW needs to unite the Union members and take the chapter to the next level.
MC OLUOMO while receiving the excos said he was humbled by their declaration and support for him. He stated that they are on the winning side and he sees their support as a call to service and that he won’t disappoint the trust they have in him.
He took his time to explain to the people his plans for the Lagos State NURTW. He said he was determined to refurbished the Lagos State Chapter of the Union so that it will also be respected as every other profession.
MC OLUOMO reminded the excos of what he once posted on the social media that NURTW is just like other professions like bankers, lawyers and doctors. He said he is on a journey to erase the negativity associated with the Union so that people can see it in the positive light and accord Union members their due respect. Also urge the members and loyalist to be an advocate of peace mostly those going for the national inauguration at Abuja to remain good ambassador of this course .
With the declaration of the over 120 branches and the more to come, the coast is now clear for MC OLUOMO to emerge as the next Chairman of the Lagos State NURTW chapter.
