Though young, Honourable Olufemi Abayomi is not one politician that could be look down on when it comes to grassroots politics in Osun State. The On Air Personality once contested for Osun State House of Assembly slot in his constituency but later stepped down for Hon. Oyintiloye who was in the House of Assembly then representing Obokun Constituency.

He has expressed his grievances over how the Governor of the State, Chief Gboyega Oyetola has abandoned people that stood by him in his bid to become governor especially in Obokun Local Government.
The Coverner of Osun State Indigenes in Diaspora and a graduate of Mass Communication narrated how he has remained faithful to the party right from the beginning:

“I am from Ilesha in Obokun Local government in Osun state, a radio presenter cum politician and the Coverner of Osun State indegene in diaspora.
I started my political career right from the period of Alliance for Democracy (AD) to Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and now All Progressive Congress (ACN).

I contributed immensely during the election of former Governor of Osun State Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and repeated same support for the election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola which some party leaders in my constituency can tesitfy to.
“I vied for the State House of Assembly slot under our great party, APC in 2018, then there were factions in our party which disrupted my chances of winning the election.

As a result of imposition of candidates, party activities in that side has not been smooth because some of us objected to the choice of a particular Councilor who was imposed and still asked to run for that same office for the second time.” Olufemi Abayomi narrated.

Olufemi however narrated how the present administration of Governor Oyetola has deprived the people of Oke-Odo/Obokun the political benefits they deserve.

“Slots like SA, Board and other appointments were not extended to us in Oke-Odo Obokun Local Government. The highest votes always come from us in Oke-Odo/ Obokun ,how come we have not been benefiting from government appointments?” He cried out.

“We had a meeting two weeks ago with other faction and both of us agreed to speak in one voice and tell Governor Oyetola to look into our matter by giving us the deserved grace in this constituency to be among the state executives because we also worked for the success of Mr. Governor’s election. We have met with our leaders, in particular Hon Jumoke Ogunkeyede (JMK) to convey our message to the governor that for many years we in Oke-Odo, Obokun Local Government have not derived any thing from him.”

“Apart from that a leader has stood his ground that the present Vice Chairman of the Local Government is going for the second term and this has been causing a whole lot of commotions in the party as party members are not in support of this decision.”

As the Local Government election is fast approaching, about 16 political parties have registered for the election. Hon. Olufemi stated categorically that he will be contesting for Chairmanship slot in Obokun Local Government.

“I will be contesting for the Chairmanship of my Local Government in the come election but some leaders are giving us a signal now that even if we come out to contest, the annoited candidate will still go for the second term, this will surely scatter the party and may destroy its future. Activities in the party is being run like dictatorship system of government.”

My advice for Mr. Governor is to look into our case in Oke-Odo, Obokun Local Government on the issue of appointment because some of us are not benefiting from the government appointment.

As a matter of fact I did over 5000 posters to support the Governor during the last election including campaign in nooks and crannies of Obokun LG. So why did we not deserve anything from Mr Governor? I can also say it boldly that during the period of lockdown I distributed palliatives and cash for Osun indigenes both in Lagos and Osun.”
Hon femi Abayomi is the initiator of Yoruba traffic news in Lagos as an OAP with Lagos Television and Eko FM.

“I am ready to transform my local govt if elected. I mobilize large numbers of Osun Indegenes in diaspora to participate during the Governorship election of Mr Governor in which Hon Jmk as well as Hon Famurewa, Chairman of SUBEB of Osun State can testify to.

My visions and projects for my people is brighter and rewarding future. My program is S.J.E.F

“And lastly I want to tell the Governor that If our leaders failed to fix the right people for appointments in Obokun Local Government, I strongly believe that we will continue loosing to PDP in that constituency.”
