As Ramadan begins on Tuesday in Nigeria and across the world, former governor of Ekiti State, Engineer Segun Oni while greeting the Muslim brothers and sisters urged them to be steadfast and use the holy month to pray for the country.
In a press release issued out on Tuesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain advised all Islamic clerics in Nigeria to pray to God and ask for peace to reing.
“We cannot overemphasize the power of prayer in our day to day activities. If not for God, I believe something worse would have happened in this country. We are favoured and this is the reason Nigeria has not been destroyed, that’s the more reason we need to seek His face and beg for the forgiveness of our sins.”
“This is also an appeal to all Islamic clerics, to use the holy month of Ramadan as an opportunity to ask God’s intervention especially over the issue of insecurity in Nigeria. All evil workers perpetrating this act should also repent and desist from their evil ways.”
He however wish the Muslim faithfuls a successful fasting period.
The former governor who has also signified his intention to contest the 2022 Governorship election has appealed to all Ekiti State indigenes especially the Muslims to pray for peaceful election come 2022. He also advised them to be kind to one another.
“As we all know that fingers are not equal, those who have in abundance should please extend generosity to those who lack, it’s a month of giving and receiving so Muslim neighbours should be kind to one another and Christians should also be at peace with their Muslim neighbours” He concluded.
