Sanwo-Olu Honours Policeman Assaulted By Motorist

It was one story trending on social media  all through last week about one ASP Erhator Sunday attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Command, who were on a convoy movement to drop off policemen at their various beats across the state blocked and stopped a white Hyundai SUV, MUS 251 EH facing the convoy on “one way”, driven by the suspect, Victor, at Four Point Hotel, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos state.

The police stopped the vehicle, the occupants, one Victor Ebhomenye and Etinosa Obaywana, angrily came down, confronted and violently assaulted ASP Erhator Sunday, inflicting severe bodily injuries on him.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu however met with the pleasant officer and honoured him. In his speech the governor said;

Today, I received ASP Sunday Erhabor who displayed maturity despite provocation and assault by unruly motorists who drove against traffic at Oniru last weekend.

While we are quick to condemn the Police for bad behaviour, we also consider it important to celebrate this act.
In the heat of provocation, ASP Erhabor displayed a high level of restraint. He is a worthy example and encouragement to other Police officers to show that they can be civil in the discharge of their duties.
On behalf of the Government and the entire people of Lagos State, I want to commend ASP Erhabor for his patience, decorum and good example of a Police officer.
I also want to implore other Police officers to see that indeed there are times when they may be provoked but they must know that restraint is an act of valour.
The prime suspect, Mr Ebhomenye, is in police custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department Panti, for investigation and prosecution, while effort is on to arrest his fleeing accomplice.
