Those who listened to King Wasiu Ayinde’s music in the 90s would know he didn’t joke with a particular celebrity, Bolaji Basia who happens to be his close friend. With the ongoing controversy over Awujale’s throne, Wasiu Ayinde’s ally Basia spoke about the decision of Fusengbuwa’s family.

Yes, he didn’t hide his interest in becoming the next Awujale of Ijebuland
When the process started he made his intention known even though a little bit late.
He was asked to submit more information about his lineage on a sheet of paper more like a questionnaire.
Here is my point, if you want to screen someone of his status, you need to do it properly by inviting him and his lineage to come defend themselves. You may even record it for the whole world to see. It should not be done by few people deciding his faith behind closed doors then asking some w0men to come to say ‘we don’t know him or the people he mentioned in the questionnaire’.
Even if k1 is accepted as a member of the family, that doesn’t automatically make him the nominee. He might still not be the Family’s choice for Awujale. However, I believe in doing the right thing. If K1 says that he’s qualified to be the next Awujale, then allow him to prove himself.
Fusengbuwa is a very large family that is spread all over the world. I don’t think it is possible for those people doing the screening to know everyone in that family. They should have allowed him to present his lineage and then ask him questions.
It is not fair for a few people to disqualify K1 without letting him defend himself properly.Bolaji Basia said .
