“They Didn’t Settle Us” — Son of Ayinla Omowura Calls Out the Producer of Ayinla Omowura’s Movie

Son of legendary Ayinla Omowura, Samsudeen Ayinla Omowura has voiced out that the family was not given any monetary incentives following the release of the popular movie, Ayinla Omowura.
The lifestyle of the man whose voice once ruled the Apala music scene and Yoruba music genre in general was adapted in a movie which prominently featured Lateef Adedimeji who played the role of A Ina Omowura in the blockbuster.
Was he aware that a movie had been made about his father?
Samsondeen in a shocking reply said;
“Of course… I am aware.
for the fact that a movie was made about myfather alone is a great honour and it is something that brings us pride.”
Even if no money was given to him, he said he was still happy.
“At least, it wasn’t small money they used to produce that movie. For someone to invest such a huge amount just to tell my father’s story meant a lot to me.”
But then, he added something:
He said it is still a responsibility, a duty for those behind the movie to at least settle them.”
“I am not begging them to give me money. But if they wish, they should settle us because It is my right.”
When asked about the actor who played Ayinla Omowura’s role.
“Lateef Adedimeji is a very good actor, I met the actor at Centenary Hall during the movie shoot, we even took pictures together. The way he acted my father was perfect.”
“As the son of Ayinla Omowura, watching someone act so closely like my father felt so real”
“It was so perfect… I almost say, this is my real father.”
“It was as if my father’s spirit entered him. And ever since, I started liking Lateef.”
Appeal has however been made to the state government to help renovate and improve the condition of Ayinla Omowura’s residence.
Because a man of such reputation, a legend whose life inspired a cinema-standard movie that even made it to platforms like Netflix puting Ogun state and Nigeria on the international map you would expect something better.
“His residence deserves a facelift. It should be transformed into a proper museum. A place that truly honours the life and legacy of Ayinla Omowura just like Lagos State government did to Fela Anikulapo Kuti.” An observer suggested
“Because legends should not be remembered in neglect.”
They should be preserved, celebrated, and respected for generations to come.”
