A controversy has emerged ahead of international football competitions after Haiti was reportedly forced to alter the design of its World Cup jersey following objections from FIFA over political content featured on the kit.
The dispute centers on a powerful historical image included in the original jersey design—a depiction of the final battle of the Haitian War of Independence in 1803, one of the most significant events in Haiti’s history.
According to reports, FIFA determined that the imagery violated regulations governing political messages and symbols on official football uniforms, prompting the Caribbean nation to revise the design before it could be used in competition.
