Former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has spoken about Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State who left the Kwankwasiyya movement and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC)
In an interview with News Central TV, Kwankwaso said Yusuf had worked with him for about 43 years in different roles. He stated that Yusuf served mainly as his Personal Assistant when he was in the civil service and when he was the Minister of Defence
Kwankwaso said he and members of his Kwankwasiyya movement supported Yusuf to become the governor of Kano State and sadly, Yusuf joined the APC.
Kwankwaso also said many governors who defect to the APC do so because they believe the presidency will help them secure re-election.
In Kwankwaso’s words: “I have been together with him for about 43 years now and at different positions, mainly as my PA in Kano, in Ministry of Defence, in fact, right from the civil service. But for many obvious reasons we supported him to become the governor of Kano and along the line he has decided to cross the road to join the APC”
