FCT Area Council Election: “We Are Winning in Most Polling Units” —Sen Dino Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that his party was winning in several polling units as voting took place during the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections held on February 21, 2026.
In a post on X, Melaye said, “We are winning the elections in most polling units,” and pointed to the result from Polling Unit, Federal Staff Clinic, Gwarimpa, Municipal Area Council to back his claim.
Dino Melaye shared the result from the Federal Staff Clinic polling unit in Gwarimpa where the ADC secured 19 votes, ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with 2 votes, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with 3 votes, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 1 vote, and other parties receiving no votes.
The polling unit had a total of 755 registered voters, although the number of accredited voters and total votes cast was not disclosed. His statement reflects early unit-level results, which are often shared by party agents and observers before official collation is completed.
These elections were conducted across all six area councils of the FCT using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), and only registered voters with valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were allowed to participate.
Early polling unit results such as the one shared by Melaye provide an indication of party performance in specific locations but do not determine the overall outcome, as final results depend on the aggregation of votes from hundreds of polling units across the area council and official declaration by the electoral commission.
