Just as it is said in the book of Corinthians 5:17  that “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Year 2021 seems to be the year of uncommon favour for talented and award winning gospel singer, Dr. Dare Melody. Just as the year began and everyone is talking about different program!mes to embark on, little did this singer know that something great would happen before the end of the year’s first quarter.
Talented Dare Melody just picked a brand new car, a GAC GS4 2020 Model.  The car arrived in the early hour of Monday 1st March. It was all round jubilation for him and his band crew as Dare Melody however took to his social media handles to share the good news.
It should be recalled that while coming from a show in Ibadan last year, the artiste Toyota Corolla (Muscle) was crushed between two trailers but no life was lost
More so the acclaimed Olu-Omo of Christian Gospel music, Dare Melody will be honoured come Sunday 7th March as the Most Innovative Gospel Artiste of the year 2020.
This is as a result of his unbeatable records, talented efforts displayed in the previous year.
With the release of many singles which include two wave making hiphop tracks, Dare Melody has no doubt remained the most consistent gospel artiste of our time.
“Without sentiments, Dare Melody remains the very best because he has changed totally the face of Christian gospel music with the innovations and infusion of hip-hop into the genre. Despite the many hurdles, especially the car accident that left his car crushed in September 2020, the singer has remained unperturbed as he kept shunning out good music”.
Publisher of Metropolix Magazine/Online, Johnson Adegboyega who doubles as the artiste’s media manager said.
It will be double celebrations on Sunday 7th at his worship centre where the award is going to be presented.

Insecurity: Buhari Warns State Governments To Desist From Negotiating With Bandits Sun, 28 Feb 2021 05:59:31 +0000
-President Mohammadu Buhari

As the tension keep increasing on the operations of bandits in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has warned state governments to stop the practice of giving cash, cars, and other forms of rewards to bandits in the name of negotiating with them.

The President noted that such practices are dangerous and only elevate the level of criminal activities in the country.

He added that the actions by such state governments have the potential to backfire with a lot of negative consequences.

Buhari rather urged the state and local governments to beef up security in and around schools and other places that may be targeted by the insurgents.

He made the submission as part of his reaction on Friday to the kidnap of over 300 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Zamfara State.

“State Governments must review their policy of rewarding bandits with money and vehicles. Such a policy has the potential to backfire with disastrous consequences.”

“States and Local Governments must also play their part by being proactive in improving security in & around schools,” he said.

As earlier reported the President according to a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, also noted that security agencies have not moved against bandits because of the fear of “heavy casualties of innocent villagers and hostages” that may be suffered in such operations.

The spokesperson quoted his principal as saying, “We have the capacity to deploy massive force against the bandits in the villages where they operate, but our limitation is the fear of heavy casualties of innocent villagers and hostages who might be used as human shields by the bandits.”

The statement added that the Buhari administration will not succumb to blackmail tactics by the bandits but will go all out in dealing with them appropriately.

“This administration will not succumb to blackmail by bandits who target innocent school students in the expectations of huge ransom payments,” Buhari was quoted as saying.

“No criminal group can be too strong to be defeated by the government,” adding that, “the only thing standing between our security forces and the bandits are the rules of engagement.”

“We have the capacity to deploy massive force against the bandits in the villages where they operate, but our limitation is the fear of heavy casualties of innocent villagers and hostages who might be used as human shields by the bandits. Our primary objective is to get the hostages safe, alive, and unharmed.”

Meanwhile, the Northern Elders Forum has said that President Muhammadu Buhari does not have the political will to handle the security challenges facing the country.

In a meeting held at the Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna State on Thursday, the forum also described the devastation of the Northern region by bandits and other criminals as a “Dangerous Situation.”

Speaking to reporters at the end of the meeting, NEF Spokesman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, said the bandits have taken advantage of the weak security landscape to ply their trade.

Baba-Ahmed noted that the northern communities have been devasted as the federal government led by President Buhari is unable to protect the region.

Govt, Bandits Negotiate, Set To Release 317 Zamfara Schoolgirls Sun, 28 Feb 2021 05:40:15 +0000

The 317 schoolgirls that were abducted by bandits in Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, on Friday may regain freedom today.

A credible source that spoke with Punch on Saturday disclosed that negotiations are ongoing with the bandits and it has reached a very advanced stage, saying “they may be in Gusau (Zamfara State capital) today.”

The source further stated that the abducted schoolgirls were kept in a forest between Dangulbi and Sabon Birnin Banaga in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“As I am speaking to you now (Saturday), vehicles have been arranged for their evacuation to Gusau town, the state capital,” the source said.

The source, however, did not reveal if a ransom was paid to secure the release of the schoolgirls from their abductors.

According to the source, the number of the kidnapped students were 279 and not 317 as earlier reported by the media, though some of the girls were reported to have escaped from captivity.

A parent of one of the kidnapped schoolgirls, Garba Ibrahim, while speaking on the development, said, “we have been intimated by the authorities of this good news.”

Another parent, who pleaded anonymity, also said, “They told us that we should relax because our children have already been released by their captors.”

He noted that two of his daughters were among the abducted students.

Mohammed Gashi, the father of three of the kidnapped schoolgirls, while speaking said he had been intimated of the positive development.

He disclosed that he has four girls in the school, he noted that his fourth daughter was able to escape from the school premises during the abduction.

Gashi said he was in his house when he received the news that the bandits had agreed to release his daughters.

“You cannot imagine how happy I was when the news came to me that our children will be released soon.”

“I have been unable to sleep since the children were abducted because their mother died when she (the mother) was kidnapped two years ago,” he added.

However, the Zamfara Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Shehu, refused to confirm whether the girls would be freed or not.

“When tomorrow comes, we would know. For now, no further comment on the matter,” he said

In another related development, the kidnapped students and staff of the Government Science College in Kagara, Niger State have been released by their abductors.

It was gathered that the students and staff who have been in captivity for days were released on Saturday morning.

-Gov. Nyesom Wike

National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Part Party (PDP) and
thw National Chairman  Uche Secondus, on Saturday met with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt.

It was gathered that PDP NWC was in the state to attend the funeral of the governor’s late uncle, Chief Ihunwo Wike.

However, before the burial, members of the party’s NWC met with Governor Wike to discuss issues related to the party.

Sources at the meeting noted that the Rivers State Governor promised to remain a committed member of the main opposition party, adding that he had nothing against any member of its NWC

The source said, “The governor said he had no problem with either Secondus or any member of the NWC, insisting that he would never join any other political party apart from the PDP.”

“He also told the team that he remained a friend and brother to the party’s national chairman but that sometimes he needed to criticise the NWC in order to make its members sit up and work towards getting power in 2023.”

Secondus and his team were later part of the guests that attended the burial of the late Wike who passed on at the age of 87.

He was until his demise, the Eze Epara Kwurume Chukwuokahia Obasinwo IV of Rumuepirikom Clan in Apara kingdom of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State.

Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Saturday, also said those present at the funeral were former governors of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili and Sir Celestine Omehia and a former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha.

Others dignitaries in attendance, it said, included former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sir Austin Opara; Senator Sam Anyanwu; South-South zonal chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih; Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Desmond Akawor; Chairman of Rivers Elders Council, High Chief Ferdinand Alabraba; Senator Barry Mpigi and several others.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, has explained that the audit query raised recently by the National Auditor of the PDP, Adamu Mustapha, has been addressed by both the NWC and the party’s National Executive Committee.

Ologbondiyan, who with Punch said, “These issues have been addressed. The auditor himself addressed the media and made clarifications. It is clear that the queries have been answered satisfactorily because it is clear that approvals were sought from both the National Working CNWS and the NEC before anything was done.

“The PDP is one and it will amount to building a mountain out of a molehill over a matter that has been dealt with. Our national chairman leads a transparent team that is accountable to party members. There was no allegation of financial impropriety anywhere.”

Mustapha had alleged that his office was not carried along in the running of the party and that his office was not carried along in the financial transactions.

But two days after the memo surfaced, he addressed the media, saying he was shocked that the memo was “mischievously misrepresented.”

Mustapha said that the NWC was not divided as it was working in the collective interest of the PDP.
