Even when his intention to help and bring development to his country is pure and genuine, Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote needs to do something on the way his trucks have been wrecking havocs, killing innocent Nigerians in recent times.
Just few months ago, precisely last December at Meiran side of Lagos State, a Dangote truck rammed into a mini bus popularly known as Korope and three other tricycles (Keke Napep) waiting to pick passengers.
An unfortunate teacher, Ayodeji Oyedotun who we gathered just secured a job at District Senior College, Meiran and two other people were crushed to death.
The most painful being how the driver of the said Dangote truck absconded.

According to an eyewitness, “The truck was coming from Sango Ota and suddenly veered off the expressway having lost its brake and rammed into the bus and the tricycles, who are on queue at the park and killed the victims,” the report said.
Observing the ethics of journalism, we immediately put a call acrossto the Head, Corporate Communication Department of Dangote Group, Mr. Tony Chiejena and our several calls to him were rebuffed, ignoring calls has remained the tradition in that department.
Another brutal accident happened again on Monday which involved a Lagos State Transport Management Authority’s (LASTMA) officer who alongside two motorcyclists was crushed to death again by a Dangote truck.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority have expressed grief over the death of a LASTMA officer and two motorcyclists who were killed in a road crash along the Badagry Expressway on Monday.
The accident occurred around 9am when a truck allegedly suffered brake failure while approaching a junction at high speed. The vehicle reportedly swerved off its lane and rammed into the victims.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by LASTMA’s spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, the agency described the incident as heartbreaking and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.
Taofiq said preliminary investigations revealed that the truck, said to belong to the Dangote Group, lost control after experiencing brake failure before ploughing into the victims.
“The driver lost control of the vehicle, which then struck a LASTMA officer who was diligently performing his traffic regulation duties, as well as a motorcyclist at the roundabout,” he said.
“The truck continued on its course, fatally hitting another motorcyclist before coming to a halt about 200 metres from the initial point of impact.
“The driver fled the scene but was subsequently apprehended by other LASTMA personnel and handed over to the police.”
According to him, the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were confirmed dead.
The LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the deceased officer as a committed public servant who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
“This is a heartbreaking incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this incredibly difficult time,” he said.
“The officer who lost his life was a dedicated public servant who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the people of Lagos. We honour his courage, professionalism and unwavering commitment to duty.”
Bakare-Oki assured that the agency was collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure justice is served, while urging haulage companies to prioritise safety and strict maintenance of their vehicles.
A motorist who spoke with Metropolix Online said he was always confused that each time there’s an accident involving Dangote vehicles, it’s always swept under carpet;
“I’ve never heard that Dangote or any of his truck drivers is being dragged to court. I really don’t know if there’s any agreement between him (Dangote) and the Federal Government that they should overlook any offence committed by Dangote trucks. If at all Dangote is the new Messiah sent to rescue Nigeria from economic crisis, how many Nigerians will remain by the time he’s through with his rescue mission if his trucks keep killing us like this. Go to Abuja road, you’ll see many Dangote trucks involving in accidents that have claimed many lives. I think government should do something about this situation,” Olufemi Ayinde lamented.
