Lagos Shuts Down Redeemed Church Six Others Over Noise Pollution

The Lagos State Government, acting through the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), has closed down a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and six other establishments due to noise pollution.
LASEPA also shut down Dominion City Church, Red Bar, Farm City, The Odyssey Apartments, Acuma Event Centre, and Fortunes Shortlet Apartment.
Last year, the agency had similarly closed down branches of religious centres, including RCCG, for environmental offenses. The affected structures are located in different parts of Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Lekki, and Ajah in the Lagos Island area.
According to LASEPA, the closure of RCCG and other establishments is in line with its mandate to protect the environment from noise pollution and other violations.
The announcement, made through its official communication channel on Thursday, highlighted the diverse locations of the sealed establishments, including Red Bar, Farm City, The Odyssey Apartments, Acuma Event Centre, Dominion City Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God (The New Covenant Assembly), and Fortunes Shortlet Apartment.
These establishments are situated in various areas of Lekki Phase 1, Oniru Lekki, and Ajah in the Lagos Island region of the state. LASEPA emphasized that the state government’s action is necessary to address instances of noise pollution and other environmental violations.
The agency expressed its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and sustainable environment that is safer, cleaner, and environmentally friendly.
