Pastor Adeboye Reveals Real Reason Why Anthony Joshua Escaped Death In Recent Motor Accident

According to Punch, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), attributed the survival of British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua in a serious car accident to what he referred to as God’s mercy.
Pastor Adeboye made this statement during the church’s monthly thanksgiving service on Sunday, where he emphasized the significance of divine mercy in protecting human lives.
Using Joshua’s recent ordeal as an example, the pastor pointed out that surviving life-threatening situations is not solely due to human intelligence or strength, but rather due to divine intervention.
Joshua was involved in a severe car accident last Monday on the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
Despite the seriousness of the crash, the former world heavyweight boxing champion emerged unscathed. Images from the scene showed Joshua being helped out of his damaged Lexus SUV.
Tragically, the accident claimed the lives of two of his companions, identified as Ayodele Kelvin, a 36-year-old Nigerian-British citizen, and Gami Sina, also 36, a British citizen.
Several other passengers in the vehicle reportedly suffered various injuries and were taken for medical care.
While speaking to the congregation, Pastor Adeboye referenced a biblical passage to reinforce his message about mercy and preservation.
He stated, “Lamentations 3:22–23 tells us that it is through the Lord’s mercies that we are not destroyed. Our survival is due to the Lord’s compassion, not our own intelligence.”
He went on to clarify that reports suggested Joshua had changed seats with another passanger just before the accident took place.
In light of the unfortunate event, Adeboye remarked, “I saw in the news yesterday that our boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, had swapped seats with someone prior to the accident.”
Emphasising the mystery behind survival and death, the cleric added, “The people he exchanged seats with died. I don’t know why, but the mercy of God said someone would still be alive today.”
Pastor Adeboye took the opportunity to remind his congregation that life is upheld by divine grace, encouraging them to maintain a constant attitude of gratitude towards God.
He emphasized that such moments should lead to profound contemplation on the vulnerability of life and the hidden mercy that protects people in perilous situations.
