Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso Supports Nathan Tella For Super Eagles

Real Madrid’s legendary midfielder Xabi Alonso has backed Nathan Tella to shine for the Super Eagles as the World Cup qualifiers take centre stage this week.

Nathan Tella was handed a maiden call-up to the Super Eagles ahead of the double-header slated against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

It would be interesting to see how it happens with the Nigerian side in these games, especially with the addition of Nathan Tella to the team.

At the club level (Bayer Leverkusen), the youngster is managed by Xabi Alonso who has spoken highly of the player’s chances at the international level.

“Nathan is a player that has the ability to just do the right thing, be in the right place, he has the quality to be in the box and makes the right runs, “Alonso told the club’s official website.

“In Nigeria, they have great strikers and maybe they could use good wingers. He’s a really nice guy with a strong mentality, he has a great attitude.”

With the statement above, Tella promises to bring more options to the Super Eagles especially as the team is without the services of Serie A-based duo; Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen.

Tella continued his impressive performance with an 83rd-minute goal in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-0 win over modest Bundesliga side Union Berlin.
