The current state of EKSU calls for a state of emergency from the Government of Ekiti State to prevent the 42-year-old University from the way of the dinosaur in the League of Universities.

The way and manner at which managers of the University are handling her affairs is appealing, demeaning, and shortfall of the expectations in 21st century.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edward Olanipekun who bagged all his academic degrees from the premier University of Ibadan, seems to be the nightmare that has happened to the University in contemporary times.
His 60-months tenure ends in mid-August, yet nothing much can be regarded as his monumental achievements in office.

He will be leaving the University with 2018-2024 Eearned Allowances totally almost 3billion naira, the various cooperative organisations on campus have 7months deductions dating over 5years back pending with the University.

Today, EKSU is seen as the last resort of students who couldn’t meet up admissions elsewhere because of the battered image it has out there. It doesn’t rank in the 1st 20most sought school . No thanks to the poor managerial skills of Prof Olanipekun who ran the university with high handedness with high hopes that he can do all alone. Many Professors have severally condemned his bullying nature even in the floor of the University Senate hence most of them prefer to maintain their silences albeit painfully as their supposed useful suggestions would be met with fierce and displeasing responses from the Almighty Vice-Chancellor.

How much do we say of the high expectations from the Governing Council headed by a former VC of the University and retired Unilag Professor of Law, Akin Oyebode?

Unfortunately, the private and personal roles of yet another statutory Council member, AkintundeOyebode(jnr), who is the Ekiti Finance Commissioner who coincidentally is a son to Prof Akin Oyebode is dragging the University backwards.

Upon realising that his tenure may end with no significant physical development, the VC is now running up and down for his best to make links to highly placed persons in the society to help uplift the university at least to clandestinely cover up his poor performance in his almost 5 years.
Gladly, his colleague in the think-tank of Senator OpeyemiBamidele during the Ekiti 2022 APC Gubernatorial primaries, EngrDipoBamisaye who is the University Global Alumni President has joined the plea team.

Gladly, this is yielding results, part of the wish is the donation of hostels to medical students of the University, construction of FM radio station and construction of a link road from the Alumni village to the University through the College of Medicine.

Expected, the new phase of developments of the University as envisaged by her management, new Chancellor, a renewed Medical Doctor and Entrepreneur as well as the visitor who incidentally is the first Alumni of the University to be the State Governor should be towards the Alumni village that is cited opposite the Ado-Ekiti main abattoir. First among the planned developments is a state-of-the-art Teaching Hospital, sports complex, agro-market for slaeskf products from the University farms e.t.c.

Unfortunately and realistically, the supposed land to house these developments has been alloted to the friends The Commissioner of Finance by himself. Painful enough, the league of land grabbers are freeborn Ekiti sons and daughters. The question be say wetin be their interests in eksu land abina water dey other parts of the State? It should be noted that it was Ewi of Ado-Ekiti that donated the land to EKSU and not Government.

Interestingly, Oga BAO is aware but seems to have looked away or shows no interest to press further, all factors are related to Ekiti 2026 has he said to have left Akin Oyebode (jnr) and other big boys in government to have a free day as a recipe for a full support for his re-election. It will be on records that the body of Alumni installed her member as Governor to sold the land of donated by EWI to EKSU.

The same is applicable to Professor Edward, the VC who can’t deny is awareness of the sales and allocation of eksu land, afterall he got 3 plots therein through a proxy and since he has eye in the Federal House or Reps seat of Ado/Irepodun-Ifelodun in 2027 hence don’t want to speak against the system the ensured he completed his tenure as VC and promoting him for a FHoR in 2027.

The families and lineage in Ado-Ekiti whose ancestral land and inheritance were taken by the old Ondo State to the University will not open their eye and allow this to happen. Even though Mr. VC is from Ado-Ekiti, it’s understandable that his family land is far from here hence he seems not affected but we assure him and his co-travellers that they are all on a journey of fantasy. Any development on our family land shall be resisted physically, legally, spiritually, and through any other means.
