In a video posted on Morayo Show recently, Richard Mofe-Damijo said he was moved to tears learning that his son is currently working three jobs in Los Angeles while trying to build his own acting career from the ground up.
The actor shared this while reflecting on his son’s decision to follow him into the film industry.
RMD explained that his son never expressed interest in acting throughout his childhood, only revealing his ambition during his university graduation.
He said his son wanted to complete his education first so his father would not assume he was choosing acting as an easy path.
RMD said this decision, along with his son’s current effort to succeed independently in the United States, left a lasting emotional impact on him.
In his words, RMD said, “Made me cry, but made me proud as well because he’s in LA now. Holding three jobs down trying to make it,” he said.
RMD said his son’s determination reminds him of the effort required to build a career in the entertainment industry, a path he himself has walked for more than four decades across film, television, and stage.
He said he continues to pray for his son’s success and is encouraged by the recognition his son has already received, including an award at the Utah International Film Awards Festival for his role in Revelations, which has since gone on to win several more honors.
RMD said watching his son pursue the same calling he once found, without being pushed into it, represents one of the proudest and most emotional moments of his life as a father.
