Sowore Clears The Air On The Alleged Rift Between Him And Igboho

Renowned activist and presidential candidate of the
African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has spoken about his relationship with Yoruba nation activist Sunday Igboho, explaining how a previous disagreement between them arose and how it was eventually resolved.

Speaking in a video shared on his official YouTube channel on Friday, June 5, 2026, Sowore said he had no personal conflict with Igboho until the activist made comments suggesting that individuals who did not support President Bola Tinubu should not be allowed to campaign politically.

According to Sowore, he strongly disagreed with that position, arguing that it runs contrary to democratic values and the fundamental right of citizens to participate in political activities regardless of their political affiliations or beliefs.

He revealed, however, that the misunderstanding was later settled after direct communication between both men. Sowore said Igboho contacted him personally and clarified that his remarks had been misunderstood and were not intended in the way they had been interpreted.

Reflecting on the conversation, Sowore stated that anyone willing to contribute positively to Nigeria’s development deserves support, provided they are not involved in criminal activities. He stressed that efforts to improve the country should transcend political loyalties and partisan divisions.

The AAC chieftain further maintained that national progress should remain the priority, emphasizing that individuals committed to lawful and constructive solutions should be encouraged irrespective of their background, ideology, or political alignment.

According to Sowore, what ultimately matters is a person’s commitment to advancing the country’s interests and working toward meaningful change within the bounds of the law.
