The solemn ceremony drew a large gathering of relatives, friends and members of the Yoruba movie industry who came to honour the memory of the deceased and support Fathia as she bid her mother a final farewell.
Saidi Balogun was among family members, friends and colleagues present in Lagos as his former wife, Fathia Balogun, laid her late mother to rest on Saturday.
Saidi Balogun’s presence at the event attracted attention from many guests.
The actress appeared emotional at different moments during the rites but was surrounded by colleagues and loved ones who stood by her during the difficult time.
Despite their divorce years ago, the actor attended the burial and was seen quietly offering support as Fathia and members of her family paid their final respects to their late matriarch.
The burial rites were marked by prayers, tributes and heartfelt reflections on the life and legacy of the deceased, whom family members described as a devoted mother who played a significant role in shaping the lives of her children.
The event also witnessed a strong turnout from the Yoruba movie industry, with several actors and filmmakers arriving to show solidarity with the grieving actress.
Among the Nollywood stars who attended the burial were Ireti Osayemi, Bimbo Thomas, Bimbo Oshin and Toyosi Adesanya, alongside other colleagues and friends who came to pay their respects.
Saidi Balogun’s presence in particular sparked conversations among attendees, with many praising the actor for demonstrating respect and maturity despite the history between him and his former wife.
The former couple were once among Nollywood’s most talked-about pairs before their marriage ended years ago.
However, fans of the estanged couple took to their social media handles advocating for Said Balogun and his estranged wife to come back together.
One Gbenga Olaoluwa wrote: ‘I hereby declare Saheed Balogun and Faithia husband and wife again.’
