Following his official declaration to contest the Ilorin East Constituency seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Hammed Oladimeji Salihu on Sunday 10th May paid a courtesy visit to his homestead at Ile Olororo Gambari Community which is made up of six family houses where he was born and raised.
The visit, beyond being a moment of personal reconnection, marked the symbolic beginning of Salihu’s political journey, setting the stage for what he described as a mission to build a better future for the people of Ilorin East Constituency.
“It was an honour to meet with our elders, leaders, friends, and family members once again at the usual Sunday morning meeting and it afforded me the opportunity to give feedback on the submission of my Intent and Nomination Forms for my aspiration to represent the good people of Ilorin East Constituency as a Member of the House of Assembly come 2027. I also sought their prayers, support, and encouragement ahead of the party primary and general elections, while appealing to them to reach out to others in support of my ambition.
“One thing that makes our community special is that despite belonging to different political parties, we remain united as one family because our bond goes beyond politics. It is rooted in the legacy, unity, and values handed down by our great-grandfathers. I was deeply touched by the assurance and support given to me by everyone present.” HOS Salihu delivered.
He said further that it is part of the preparations for the Eld Mubarak;
“As part of preparations towards Eid Mubarak, I also took time to give back to the community that raised me.
I sincerely appreciate the President, Alhaji Toyin Aladi, the Vice President, other executive members, our respected elders, my childhood friends, junior and senior brothers, and my uncles for the warm reception and love shown to me.May Almighty Allah continue to strengthen the unity and progress of our community.”
However, emphasizing on his readiness to serve and represent the people. Salihu, a grassroots politician and community advocate, said his decision to join the race stems from a strong desire to provide effective representation and contribute to the development of Ilorin East.
He noted that his focus would be on people-oriented legislation, youth empowerment, education, and infrastructural development, stressing that the constituency deserves a more proactive and responsive voice in the Assembly.
According to him, “Ilorin East has immense potential, and with the right leadership, we can attract meaningful development that will improve the lives of our people.”
The aspirant also pledged to run an inclusive campaign, engaging stakeholders, community leaders, and youths across the constituency to ensure their needs and aspirations are reflected in his agenda.
Salihu called on residents of Ilorin East to support his ambition, assuring them of transparency, accessibility, and a commitment to delivering quality representation if elected.
He also pledged to serve with integrity, dedication, and a clear vision for sustainable development. He explained that his decision to join the race was driven by a genuine desire to bring about positive change, empower young people, and improve the overall welfare of his constituents.
He further assured supporters of his commitment to people-centered leadership, promising to be a strong voice for the voiceless and a proactive advocate for progress in Ilorin East.
The announcement was met with enthusiastic support, as family members and attendees offered prayers and words of encouragement, expressing confidence in his leadership
capacity and readiness to deliver meaningful representation.
