Timehin Adeleye has been sacked by A Federal High Court as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in Ondo State.
The court declared Abdugani Arobo as the rightful winner of the party’s primary election.
The judgment, delivered on Wednesday, has thrown the constituency into fresh political turmoil.
Adeleye, who is currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives, has been ordered to vacate his position as the party’s flag bearer.
Arobo, who had challenged Adeleye’s candidacy in court, has welcomed the ruling, describing it as a victory for democracy.
He called on his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding. The APC has not issued an official statement on the court’s decision, but party sources say an appeal is likely. The development is a major setback for Adeleye, who was seeking re-election.
This ruling adds to the growing list of court decisions nullifying candidacies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political analysts say the trend reflects the internal crises plaguing many political parties in the country.
