Nollywood Actress, Tope Osoba Dies At 40

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning again after the death of popular lewd Highlife singer, St. Janet. Death of another Yoruba Nollywood actress and producer Temitope “Tope” Osoba has been announced, she died at the age of 40.

Osoba’s death comes barely a year after she made an emotional return to acting, having survived breast cancer and publicly shared her recovery journey to inspire others.

The actress first revealed her diagnosis after discovering a lump during a self-examination. She underwent surgery and later appealed for public support to cover the cost of further treatment. Follow-up tests eventually confirmed that the cancer had not spread, and she was declared cancer-free before resuming her acting career in 2025.

Announcing her return to the screen last year, Osoba described her recovery as a turning point in her life.

“I’m emerging stronger, more resilient, and more passionate about sharing my story and inspiring others,” she said at the time.

Known for her roles in several Yoruba films, including Ile Owo, Omo Iya Kan and Gucci Girls, Osoba had also pledged to use her platform to promote breast cancer awareness and support others facing similar health challenges.

Tributes from colleagues, fans and members of the Nigerian movie industry are expected as they mourn the actress, whose resilience during her battle with cancer earned widespread admiration.

The cause and circumstances of her death had not been officially announced at the time of filing this report.
