Desmond Elliot Returns to Movie Set After APC Primary Loss

Nollywood actor and politician Desmond Elliot has sparked reactions online after photos of him on a movie set with fellow actor Ibrahim Chatta surfaced on social media, weeks after he lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to seek another term in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The photos, which have been widely shared online, show Elliot and Chatta standing together on what appears to be a film set while engaged in conversation during a production.

The development has generated excitement among movie lovers, many of whom described the actor’s apparent return to filmmaking as a welcome move. Several social media users said they were eager to see Elliot back on screen after years of balancing acting with politics.

Elliot recently failed in his bid to secure the APC ticket for Surulere Constituency I ahead of the 2027 general elections. The three-term lawmaker lost the party’s primary election to the incumbent, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who polled an overwhelming majority of votes in the contest.

Before the primary election, Elliot had appealed to party members for another opportunity to represent the constituency, arguing that returning to the Lagos State House of Assembly as a ranking lawmaker would bring additional benefits to Surulere.
Although Elliot has not publicly said the movie set appearance marks a full-time return to Nollywood, the circulating photos have fuelled speculation among fans that he may be focusing more on his acting career following the political setback.

For many Nigerians, Desmond Elliot remains one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces, having featured in numerous films before venturing into politics in 2015. His latest appearance alongside Ibrahim Chatta has therefore reignited conversations about a possible comeback to the industry that first brought him fame.

As the photos continue to circulate online, fans are already looking forward to seeing the veteran actor share the screen with Chatta once again, with many expressing hope that the project will mark the beginning of more Nollywood appearances from the actor-turned-politician.
