Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke has accused his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola of using federal influence to intimidate Osun people, while urging voters to reject violence during Saturday governorship election.
Adeleke has questioned why opposition politicians would allegedly use federal influence to arrest and intimidate his supporters if they are confident of winning the 2026 governorship election.
Adeleke made the statement at the ARISE NEWS Town Hall Meeting in Osun State while responding to questions on alleged federal interference, his relationship with President Bola Tinubu and the role of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the election.
The governor said his political opponents had resorted to intimidation and arrests because they were concerned about losing the election.
‘I’m a bulldozer’, not afraid of FG, governors backing APC candidate” he said.
“Oyetola is still suffering from the pain of the defeat I gave him in the 2022 Osun State governorship election. He’s using federal might because he’s a cousin of President Tinubu to cause problems in Osun State.
Oyetola, if you’re listening to me: just because I defeated you, go and sit down. He’s using President Tinubu’s name to allow people to be killed. He arrested Accord members, and I had to talk to Bishop Matthew Kukah because I didn’t want to attend the peace signing.
They only released about 14 after Kukah started talking, and one of our candidates is still languishing in jail in Abuja. For what? If you know you can win, why are you arresting my people? Why are you using federal might to arrest and intimidate? Osun people are ready.
The work I’ve done speaks for itself. Come this Saturday, I will be victorious.”
