Sanwo-Olu Appoints Florence Gbaye LASBCA GM

The Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration has appointed Omolola Florence Gbaye as general manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
The spokesperson for the LASBCA, Adu Ademuyiwa, in a statement on Thursday, said the appointment was contained in a letter presented to the new appointee by the Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, in Alausa, Ikeja.
The LASBCA spokesperson said, “The Lagos State Government has appointed Bldr. Gbaye Omolola Florence as the substantive General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
“The appointment was formally conveyed through a letter presented to Bldr. Gbaye by the Lagos State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Bode Agoro, at his office in Alausa, Ikeja.”
According to the statement, Mrs Gbaye, who had been the acting LASBCA general manager since her deployment in August 2025, succeeds the former general manager, Gbolahan Owodunni Oki.
Mrs Gbaye who is Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Building (FNIOB) and a registered Builder with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), brings over 22 years of professional experience, spanning building regulation and compliance, project coordination and execution, and construction management.
The statement noted that as LASBCA acting GM, Mrs Gbaye strengthened collaboration between the agency and professionals across the built environment sector, with a focus on promoting professionalism, improving regulatory compliance and sanitising the building sector in Lagos State.
The state government said, “Her substantive appointment is expected to further consolidate ongoing efforts by the agency to ensure strict adherence to the Lagos State Building Codes and Regulations. This will be pursued through sustained monitoring, effective enforcement and stronger engagement with building owners, developers and other stakeholders.”
Mr Agoro, at the presentation, expressed confidence in Mrs Gbaye’s competence, experience and capacity to effectively discharge the responsibilities of her new office.
He urged her to remain dedicated, diligent and selfless in the performance of her duties, noting that her appointment reflected the confidence reposed in her by the state goovernor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He also charged her to “justify the confidence through purposeful leadership, strict adherence to professional standards and effective delivery of LASBCA’s mandate towards achieving a safer, more compliant and sustainable built environment in Lagos State.”
Mrs Gbaye, in her acceptance speech, appreciated Mr Sanwo-Olu, and his Deputy, Obafemi Hanzat, for the confidence reposed in her, as well as Mr Agoro, and other officials of the state government for their support and encouragement.
She pledged to remain committed to the responsibilities entrusted in to her and to work diligently with relevant stakeholders towards strengthening building control, promoting compliance and advancing the agency’s mandate for a safer, sustainable and well-regulated built environment across Lagos State.
