— Pastor Adeboye, Pastor Titi Akindayomi
By Bunmi Onakan
Daughter of the founder of The Redeemed Christian Church (RCCG), Pastor Titi Akindayomi has spoken with painful clarity on what she described as
‘legacy denial’ on her late father who was the outright founder of the church.
According to her, “Some top pastors and many people don’t know that my father is the founder of RCCG, his name and legacy must not die.”
She said further that “A founder’s legacy should never be invisible inside the very church he birthed and founded. Daddy GO, Pa Josiah Akindayomi heard God. He obeyed. He built RCCG from nothing and when the time came, he chose you ahead of your Sunday School teachers ahead of senior pastors, ahead of the men who had served for decades. He could have ignored God’s voice, he could have handed the church to his family but he didn’t.”
“He trusted you completely, today, Redeemer’s University has named the Vice Chancellor lodge after Pastor E.A. Adeboye.
It has named the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences after Pastor Adeboye and Pastor Folu Adeboye. Honor has been given visibly, publicly, institutionally But the founder remains unnamed.
Without Akindayomi, there would be no RCCG:
Without RCCG, there would be no Redeemer’s University.
A legacy like that should not be silent.
Some people may say “God has not told him yet, that is a lie. God will not speak where He expects you to exercise sound judgement. Even politicians and people of the world do not forget their godfathers, so why is it difficult to rename the university after the man who founded the entire mission?”
” And let me be clear I do not support turning churches into family businesses or handing ministries to children. But if Rev. Josiah Akindayomi had made his children trustees, while still handing over to Adeboye, we would not be here today begging for Redeemer’s University to carry his name.
“Look at Joseph Ayo Babalola University. Look at Benson Idahosa University. Their founders’ names stand because their structures protected their legacy.
Founders must learn from this. Kumuyi, Oyedepo, Olukoya — legacy must be secured before you are gone.”
This is why I advised Pastor Kumuyi to include his children among the trustees, not for inheritance, not for power but for protection of the work God committed to his hands. When founders fail to secure continuity, strangers may rewrite history.
Legacy is not automatic, legacy must be protected.
Dear Pastor Adeboye, the daughter and family of your late father in the Lord are asking for his legacy to be preserved.
Please rename Redeemer’s University after Rev. Josiah Akindayomi. Let the founder’s name stand. Let his memory live. God bless you.”
She however quote Romans 13:7 ‘Give everyone what you owe them, respect and honor to those you owe honor.:
Proverbs 10:7, The memory of the righteous is a blessing:
Dae Jumong 30/7/26:
Let the right thing be done.
Pastor Adeboye has not responded to this challenge.
