Japa: Police Arrest Man Over Attempt To Sell Company’s Car To Fund Trip

Police in Lagos State have detained a man who sought to sell a vehicle belonging to the company he worked for to fund his family’s move out of Nigeria.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest to NAN on Tuesday.
Hundeyin stated that the State Criminal Investigation Department received information on January 16, at 1 p.m., about a Toyota Hilux vehicle suspected of being stolen.
“On the strength of the information, a team of detectives swung into action.
“In the course of the investigation, the said vehicle was traced and located at Ilukogun village, a boundary between Lagos State and Ogun,” he said.
According to the PPRO, the automobile was retrieved from Arthur Benjamin in the abovementioned village.
“The suspect was arrested and he confessed to have stolen the vehicle from his workplace, with an intention to sell and run away to Ghana with his family.
“Investigation is still in progress for possible arrest of other members of his gang,” he said.
