– Ahmed Bala & his Manager
Ahmed was once a player at Triple 44 Academy Ibadan. One of the fastest football players in the academy, extremely quick and skillful.
Super Eagles legend, Kanu Nwankwo, once described him as highly talented footballer in a video.
Kanu said, Ahmed reminds him of legendary speedster Tijani Babangida.
Last year, Bala went to a developmental camp in Germany for three months . During this time his club and manager secured a week trial with the Swedish champions BK Hacken for Bala.
Invitation letter and the flight ticket were made available; and Bala was ready to leave in the next two days.
Unfortunately, a day before his departure, Bala lost his mother, the dearest person to him .
He had always spoken about how he wanted to play football so he could take care of his mom , only for him to hear the news that the mother had passed on and with few hours to his departure.
When Bala was informed by his brothers,he was cried profusely, and this shocked his manager.
He said to Bala,
“This is a very difficult moment for you and your family , you leave tomorrow for Sweden . You’re not in the right frame of mind , should I call them to cancel the trial or see if we could reschedule.”
Bala said no and insisted he would like to go ahead with the trials. His manager said this is not good for you , and if you don’t perform well , you may close the door for Tripple 44 at this club. And for yourself as well. Bala said , “but please sir , I don’t want to loose in both ways . I already lost my mother , I dont want to lose this opportunity I’ve always waited for.”
The manager said, ” I decided to listen to Bala and put my reputation on the line for him.”
Bala was there for around 5 days , he was reported to be making too many unforced errors.
Of course it was expected. He came back and he has never remained the same since then.
Late 2022, Bala was a shadow of himself until he eventually joined another club.
I hope he never stops fighting and I hope he gets the right people around him.
